Twin necessities for the first year

Now that we have one year of raising twins under our belt, we feel like there is some advice we can share.

Twins are demanding.  Unless you lead a life of leisure and can afford staff or the time to both raise your children together all the time, at some point you will be alone and outnumbered.  If you do not have the twin-assist SWAT team on speed dial, devices can be a sanity-saver.  Do you need two of everything?  No.  Just be prepared to have two of the things that work. 13 Months and counting

I suppose I should accept that regular updates are an unlikely thing for me.  Hopefully, I’ll do better in the future.

Here’s where we stand now: Danny is able to walk, but he lacks the confidence to do it in front of most people.  We have set up a corral for them in the family room and they seem to love it.  Alex uses the fence to pull himself up and then he dances.  He also headbangs like you wouldn’t believe. The move and its consequences

Hopefully, I’ll be able to update more often in the future, but the past several weeks have been beyond busy.

Amy and I packed up six years worth of accumulated possessions, cleaned the house and basically ran around like crazy people.  We beat out three other offers to get the four bedroom colonial in a great school district.  The stress really mounted when the mortgage appraisers started devaluing the properties and making demands.  We got through all that and, with the help of Amy’s folks, got everything ready for the movers.  Then the party really started.

On Monday, July 13, 2009 in the 7:00 AM hour, Amy woke me up to tell me she was pregnant.  It was an amazing morning.  We had been trying for several months and she thought she was pregnant in the days before the 13th, but her tests had all been negative.

The positive test was followed by several other positive tests, just to make sure.  Once we were sure it became time to plan. (more…)
