The story so far…

On Monday, July 13, 2009 in the 7:00 AM hour, Amy woke me up to tell me she was pregnant.  It was an amazing morning.  We had been trying for several months and she thought she was pregnant in the days before the 13th, but her tests had all been negative.

The positive test was followed by several other positive tests, just to make sure.  Once we were sure it became time to plan.

My parents have eight grandkids so the pressure on me to reproduce was non-existent.  Amy’s parents have no grandchildren and Amy looks to be their best hope.  The pressure was definitely on her.  Therefore, we told her parents first.  There was much rejoicing!  My parents were also very happy for us.

We started reading up on pregnancy and what to expect.  We made the appropriate appointments with doctors.  We had our first visit with the OBGYN to hear the heartbeat at three months.  It was magical.  We heard this fast, whooshing heartbeat and were very relieved.  We told all our friends and family.  We started thinking about names.

September 9, 2009 was our first scheduled Ultrasound.  We were anxious to see our baby for the first time.  Imagine our surprise when we saw two babies!

Our first look at the twins

I was overjoyed.  We want more than one child and Amy only wants to be pregnant once.  She has not had the easiest pregnancy.  She is little and was nauseous most of the first trimester.

Everyone we told about the twins did not believe us at first; especially our parents.  We had to show the Ultrasound printouts.

A mother’s reaction

Once we knew twins were in the mix, we had to start looking for a bigger house.  It’s a great time to buy, but a rotten time to sell.  Man, are we blessed!  We sold our house in 18 days and bought a new one that had been on the market for nine days.  We move November 20.

The next big question was, what are we having?  Last Monday, October 19, was our second Ultrasound.  That’s when we found out we can expect twin boys.

So now, we have to start packing up the house and getting ready to move.  I’ll post developments here regularly.

Thanks for reading!
